The Darjeeling Polytechnic, which is located in Kurseong Sub Division, was established in the year 1964 and presently is the only Polytechnic offering Diploma Engineering courses in the two Hill Districts (Darjeeling and Kalimpong) of West Bengal. It was established to cater to the needs of aspiring students from the Hills of West Bengal who wanted to study engineering but did not have the financial means to leave their homes , move to far flung places and get educated.
