CMS Educational Trust was founded in 2004 by Dr. C. Muthusamy, a real estate promoter based out of Namakkal (Tamil Nadu). The trust was set up to establish educational institutes in and around the town of Namakkal. In 2007-08, the flagship institute of the trust - CMS College of Engineering, commenced operations on the outskirts of Namakkal town.
