ABOUT ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEM

Engineering in power and energy system lesson study deals with the concept of generation, distribution, transmission and utilisation of electric power. It also includes the design, analysis and performance of power systems of various sizes and complexity. This course focused on advanced research and technologies regarding electrical power and energy technologies and their applications. This course gives adequate knowledge about fundamental power engineering, energy resources used for the distribution process and advanced technologies. This course aims to offer excellent expertise about electrical power systems and equip the students with essential theoretical and practical skills to lead the industry in a better manner. Engineering in electrical power and energy systems helps to get knowledge about the electric power system, economics and management of this system and helps to bring professionals in the areas of generation of power transmission and distribution of power supply along with power equipment and electrical devices.

WHAT IS ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEM?

It is a course that deals with the power production technologies, transmission, distribution and utilisation of electric power, and the safe handling and operations of electrical devices connected to the equipment like generators, motors, and Transformers. This undergraduate programme will focus on the designs, operation and analysing of the power supply system, designing and manufacturing the power plant, power production and utilisation technologies with electrical equipment, which helps complete in industrial sectors. This course covers major topics like modern substations, Advanced traditional power system disciplines, Integration of AC and DC grids, Green power and energy technologies and Systems, Smart transmission grids, power system transients and testing, Smart Distributed and Autonomous energy systems and Information and Communication infrastructure for future power systems are also discussed here. Once they become an engineer in this field, they are also responsible for work in various communities like engineering consultants, thermal power plants, hardware manufacturers, a company that deals with recycling and environmental protection processes, telecommunication sector hydrothermal power plants, and many other sectors. During this undergraduate program, the students are trained well as valuable professionals with excellent knowledge of the dynamic power system industries and technologies.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER IN ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEM

Eligibility to become an electrical engineer. First, a computer must have passed 10 + 2 examinations from a recognised board or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50 % of marks and physics, mathematics, chemistry and computer science as their compulsory subject. This passing mark differs according to the category of students and colleges. This also offers different job roles in the industry such as assistant engineer, site engineer, field engineer, research and development software engineer, customer support engineer, network planning engineer etc. The recruiting area for this graduate who has this educational background includes the Indian armed force, Hydroelectric power plants, thermal power plants, State-wise Electricity Board, Telecommunication, Mineral processing, software development, research and development electrical industry, solar and wind energy industry, environment and safety hazards. This shows the demand for Power Engineers and their significant contribution to developing an efficient and influential role in human society.
