ABOUT COMPUTER ENGINEERING (COMPUTER NETWORKS)

Computer Engineering is the combination of the fields of electronics engineering and computer science. It deals in all the software and hardware aspects of a computer and deals with its complexities. A computer engineering (computer networks) study deals with everything in computer engineering but emphasizes networking. The survey of finding efficient and secure ways to share data between linked computers is computer networking. It is considered an important aspect as it gave birth to our most important asset, the internet. Today, A computer without internet or network connection has arguably very little to no use.

Recent developments in the field of computer engineering related to computer networks include high-speed wireless/wired networks, web technologies that increase effective interaction with the user, online privacy protection using firewalls, antivirus, IPS address masking using VPN, meeting the growing demand to handle more simultaneous, effortless and safe wireless connections from handheld electronics.

WHAT IS COMPUTER ENGINEERING (COMPUTER NETWORKS)?

The course aims to teach the students the basics of computer engineering from hardware to software with a focus on networking topics such as network packets, network topology, network nodes, specifications, and working of wired and wireless networks, routers, modems, firewalls, the protocols associated with each of the grid above procedures. Apart from networking topics, the students will learn how the hardware and circuitry in a computer system works and how to efficiently built it. They will know how the software depends on the hardware and how it can present a working computer system.

In this field, understanding math is important; thus, calculus, linear algebra, statistics, and numerical analysis are taught. Although there are topics that do not need prior programming skills, such as low-level communications or hardware issues, an emphasis is laid on programming skills such as networking protocols and software. Code abstraction is also skill students will develop as networking involves an architecture where every layer is an abstraction of the layer above it.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING (COMPUTER NETWORKS)

Candidates who have passed 12th grade with mathematics and science as a compulsory subject can take up this bachelor course. Still, it also depends on the institutes based on their entrance exams.

Candidates who have completed the undergraduate programs in hardware and networking or any other related field can apply for post-graduation/Masters. The requirement varies from one institution to another with their exams and interview rounds.

The Bachelor's lasts for four years whereas the Master's is for two years. There are immense job opportunities in this field, with network solutions being sought after by big institutions, governments, and militaries. TODAY, every IT/software company needs experts in networking as the communications and networking department is typically one of its biggest divisions.
