ABOUT INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURES ENGINEERING?

A building is built to serve an industry-specific purpose, such as supporting or housing equipment, raw materials, or communication cables. Industrial structures account for more than a quarter of the entire cost of building and installation activities in modern industrial construction. The Chemical, metallurgical, and mining industries have the most distinctive industrial architectures. As a result of the increasing trend to deploy industrial equipment in open areas outside of industrial premises and the increasing concentration of equipment in industrial plants, their use is continuously expanding. Most industrial structures, such as supports, platforms, chimneys, silos, and tanks, are reinforced concrete and steel. Platforms and ventilation towers can sometimes be made of bonded wood structures.

Industrial structural engineering is a branch of civil engineering that teaches engineers how to design the "bones and muscles" that give artificial structures shape and form. Structural engineers must also estimate the rigidity, stability, strength and earthquake-susceptibility of built structures, both for buildings and non-building structures. Structural designs may combine with those of other designers, such as building services engineers and architects. They regularly oversee contractors' on-site construction of projects. When structural integrity affects functioning and safety, they may be engaged in designing machinery, medical equipment, and automobiles. The foundations of industrial structural engineering theory are theoretical understanding of the structural performance of different materials and geometries and applicable physical principles.

To construct complicated structural systems, industrial structural engineering design employs several elementary structural concepts. Structural engineers are in charge of achieving these objectives through making imaginative and efficient use of funds, structural elements, and materials.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER IN INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURES ENGINEERING

Students must have completed 10+2 with PCM group for bachelor programmes and a bachelor degree in the related discipline for master courses. Candidates for the M.Tech in Structural Engineering program must have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a bachelor's degree in technology. Entrance exams will be used to determine admission to B.E./B.Tech programs. JEE Main is a national level entrance exam that allows students to enrol in the first year of a B.Tech program. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) results in select candidates for postgraduate courses (M.Tech) at various universities/institutions.

Graduates of structural and civil engineering can pursue a career in structural engineering. Graduates from other professions can work in this field, but it may take more time to become acquainted with the profession. Structural engineers play a critical role in the creation and building of our cities and communities. Structural engineers can begin their careers as construction designers before progressing to project managers. It is possible to find work in both the private and public sectors. Structural engineering professionals play a significant part in the building sector. They can also work as consultants or as self-employed contract engineers. Engineering consultancies employ the majority of structural engineers.
