About Mechanical CAD/CAM

Mechanical CAD is software that allows engineers to design products with very detailed technical illustrations in both the 2D and the 3D models, along with providing the specifications for manufacturing and engineering. This course is about understanding MCAD software, it is working, and its applications. We also talk about MCAM software which assists in automotive manufacturing processes by using computer software and programs. MCAD & MCAM software is used across many industries, including high-tech or consumer electronics, automotive, and medical devices. In the modern world, resources must be used efficiently, production is completed within time limits, and services delivered at the doorstep. Failure to perform any of these activities will very likely hurt your enterprise in the long run. For this purpose, companies and businesses have started using this software to make their job easy. With the growth in this programming software, the need for professionals operating and creating them has also increased. This is the reason students should take enrol in this course.

What is Mechanical CAD/CAM?

This course will offer students technical and practical knowledge in various topics like- Material Sciences, Physics, and Engineering. CAD is about learning topics like 3-D models, 2-D designing, prototypes, and safety analysis. Surveying of software, creating tutorials on that, writing automation program will be done under CAM. Subtopics in this course include everything from concept sketching, prototype creation, and performance and safety analysis. This course will teach students all about the current scenario of these software programs. Current CAD software packages range from 2D vector-based drafting systems to 3D solid and surface modellers. This course equips the students with various skills such as a sound knowledge of engineering design principles so that they can create good designs for the software they make, good communication skills to work together with the various team members they will be working with, and so is it important that students possess a strong technical knowledge, understanding of manufacturing processes, and construction methods. It is also very important that students pursue a sense of creativity so that their design and work can create something unique. Problem-solving, communication, project management are also important skills students are trained in. The syllabus for this course is as follows: Advanced CAD and Finite Element Analysis, Precision Engineering, Design for manufacturing are taught at the start of the session. After this, students learn about, design of hydraulics, flexible manufacturing, Computer-Aided Manufacturing, Industrial Robotics, etc. after this, students are taught mechanics of solids, advanced mechatronics, mechanics of composite materials, fluid dynamics, automation in manufacturing and thus concluding the course.

Eligibility and Career in Mechanical CAD/CAM

Students who wish to enrol in this course should be a graduate or postgraduate in streams like Mechanical, Automobile, Production, Industrial, and Polymer Engineering from a recognized institute/university. Graduates from this field can get employed as AutoCAD Drafters, Architectural Design Professionals, Associate Technical Professionals, draft engineer, Research & Development Engineer, Lecturer, etc., among various fields such as manufacturing, education, R&D in industries, space research institutes, universities, etc.
