About Production Design and Manufacturing

In Production Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, various processes are planned, designed, developed, and managed so that high-quality products can be produced. As a subset of Mechanical Engineering, this branch of engineering is interdisciplinary because it integrates science and technology. There are many types of production engineers, from Industrial engineers to production managers and Production engineering assistants to Manufacturing engineers. Indian and foreign companies are in great need of production engineers. The programme is offered at both undergraduate and graduate levels in India. Candidates can also pursue a PhD in Production Engineering after completing a Master's degree in the field. Those with degrees in production engineering are employed across various industries, including Pharmaceuticals, Research Laboratories, Manufacturing, Communication, Travel, Sports, Health, and Information Technology.

What is Production Design and Manufacturing?

Mechatronics is the subset/specialization of Manufacturing and Production Engineering. Manufacturing Engineering focuses exclusively on Machine Tools, Material Science, Tribology, and Quality Control and is also known as Industrial Engineering. Manufacturing engineers are responsible for manufacturing system design, development, implementation, operation, and management. A manufacturing engineer is vital personnel in many organizations because manufacturing is an essential part of engineering. Aeroplanes, turbines, engines, and pumps lie within the company's product range, as do integrated circuits and robotic equipment. Specifically, the goal is to increase manufacturing efficiency, improve quality control, and reduce costs while making their products more appealing and marketable. The field of industrial engineering deals with the development, improvement, and implementation of integrated systems of people, money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, materials, and analysis and synthesis. The objectives of IPE are to provide specifications, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from the current systems or processes and new ones that will be implemented or developed using methods from mathematics, physical science, and social science. With production engineering, the goal is to achieve the smoothest, most judicial and most economical production process. Production engineering and process engineering are manufacturing engineering, and industrial engineering is often intertwined. The concept of production engineering and manufacturing engineering are interchangeable.

Eligibility and Career in Production Design and Manufacturing

An Engineering degree in production engineering requires candidates to attain a minimum 60% aggregate mark in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in their 12th grade. Candidates who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in production engineering should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum grade point average of 50%. There are a lot of technical institutes in India that offer full-time programs in Production Engineering to undergraduates and graduates. The student also has the option of pursuing a PhD in a related field. Some institutes also offer a diploma in Production Engineering in addition to a full-time degree. However, fewer schools offer this option. There are. Companies such as Satyam Ventures, NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation), Hyundai, ONGC, L & T, SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited), Mahindra & Mahindra are among the companies which hire Production Engineers.
