It includes the construction, reconstruction, and repair of infrastructures like bridges, dams, and ports, the planning of residential communities and the provision of utilities like sanitation stations, power plants, highways, and transportation networks. Civil engineering is a synthesis of several scientific disciplines. During the first years of this course, the study of these key elements will be prioritized. A civil engineer can work in a wide variety of fields. The amount of educational programs offered is limitless. The sky's the limit for the law, management, and competitive examinations for government jobs.

What is Civil engineering (2 Shift)?

Civil engineering applies physical and scientific concepts to societal problems, and it is intrinsically linked to physics and mathematics. Because civil engineering is such a large field with so many sub-fields. Its history is entangled with knowledge of structures, materials science, geography, geology, soils, hydrology, environmental science, mechanics, project management, and other disciplines. Among the subjects covered by students are engineering mathematics, engineering physics, engineering chemistry, basic electrical engineering, programming, Systems in Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology and Architectural Planning, geotechnical engineering, concrete technique, structural analysis, Hydrology and Water Resource Engineering, infrastructure Engineering, and Construction Techniques. During the course, they will be introduced to project-based learning and project management. Some of the elective subjects available include Advanced Structural Design, Advanced Foundation Engineering, Hydropower Engineering, Air Pollution and Control, Finite Element Method in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Advanced Transportation Engineering, Statistical Analysis, and Computational Methods in Civil Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, and Construction Management.

Eligibility and Career in Civil engineering (2 Shift)

Many colleges offer a three-year full-time Diploma in Civil Engineering 2 Shift program. Passing the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC)/10th standard/equivalent examination in science and math is the minimum requirement for entry into a diploma program. 10+2 with at least 60% aggregate in PCM subjects and a State-level or national entrance examination like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, WBJEE and BITSAT score is required for graduation. Some students also opt for a Master's program(M Tech./M.E.) in this field for which a bachelor's degree is required. Because civil engineering is one of the oldest fields of engineering, the scope of this course is also quite broad. Civil engineers are employed in various industries, including oil and energy, petroleum, chemical and power plants, etc. Some engineers can find work in fields such as banking, consulting, and software development. Civil engineering offers a variety of attractive work opportunities in both the public and commercial sectors. Railways, consulting firms, the military, and municipal corporations are also popular choices.  Common Job positions are structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, site engineers, construction engineers, lecturers.
