About Mechanical Engineering Design

Mechanical engineering and design is a programme that teaches students about both disciplines and how they interact. Mechanical engineering involves designing, developing, and constructing machinery and devices that transport power or convert thermal energy to automatic form to control the contemporary world and its machines. Recent improvements in computer hardware and software have had a significant impact on its current practice. Engineers are now crucial to creating new technologies in various disciplines, including energy conversion, solar energy utilisation, environmental control, prosthetics, transportation, manufacturing, and new materials research. Design is a field that improves the quality of human experiences in certain contexts. Designers ask critical questions about how we live and create crucial answers. Designers are required both when we do not know what is needed and when we believe we do. Students in this programme will combine disciplines to find human-centred solutions to complicated situations.

What is Mechanical Engineering Design?

The process of developing parts, components, or products with an awareness of design criteria for a certain production method is known as mechanical engineering design.

This course looks at the design for manufacturing workflow. It demonstrates how to validate models and develop G code, the programming language used to tell the CNC machine how to move.

Students will learn the fundamentals of part and assembly design and use tools like animation, rendering, and simulations. They also study the fundamentals of each of these topics, which will be expanded upon in subsequent courses that apply these ideas. The curriculum will equip mechanical engineers in design thinking, design processes, and design practice with a firm foundation in mechanical engineering foundations. In addition, students will have access to a wide range of interdisciplinary courses (science, engineering, art, and design); co-operative education experiences; research opportunities; and possible graduate programmes in both fields as a result of offering a combined major in these two fields, and will be professionals prepared to help solve complex problems in both the natural and built environments.

Eligibility and Career in Mechanical Engineering Design

Candidates who intend to pursue engineering after high school should have completed Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. In addition, they should have received a 50 per cent or equivalent on the 12th examination. Mechanical Engineering Design enables students to develop designs, build a prototype, and design competitive products in the market. As a result, graduates can find work in agriculture, manufacturing, solar and nuclear energy, fuel production, and other associated industries. For example, they might start as a Design Engineer, Energy Analyst, Project Consultant, Field Service Engineer, Engineering Project Manager, and so on. Students who want to educate can work as professors in well-known educational institutions. Students can also continue their education by enrolling in programmes such as PhD or MPhil. Initial positions may include computer-intensive CAD/CAM or programming work. In contrast, more advanced positions will put students in charge of design, quality-control systems, and equipment performance testing. The course graduates are going to be in huge demand.
