Computer-aided structural engineering program comprised of structural engineering and computer science.

ABOUT COMPUTER AIDED STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Computer-aided structural engineering program comprised of structural engineering and computer science. It is an innovative engineering course that deals with the new developments made in structural engineering and computer science. This course integrates two significant fields into one study during post-graduation (MTech) in engineering. The integration enables undergraduate engineers to get better knowledge and provides flexibility and freedom to understand materials' structural behaviour and computational geometry deeply. It also offers a comprehensive understanding of computer programming, database, graphics, visualisation, etc., to the structural engineer.

WHAT IS COMPUTER AIDED STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Structural engineering is a branch of civil engineering that primarily deals with the structure building and analysis of that structures bear and hold up against load. A structural engineer has profound knowledge of building systems and large non-building networks. Still, they can also be engaged in some other filed where structural solidarity affects product safety, such as medical equipment, machinery, vehicles, etc.

After completing a computer-aided structural engineering course, a post-graduate engineer has a global and broad perspective of computer science and structural engineering field with the capabilities to estimate, analyse, and synthesise new challenges in this field. Students will learn about the creation, selection, and application of different significant techniques, resources, and IT tools involving estimation and modelling, too, complicated engineering tasks with an understanding of the restrictions. Students get familiar with the help and practices of recent and new emerging construction materials with improved mathematics skills during this course. This program prepares students to face the challenges of the 21st century, such as intelligent cities & structures. It helps provide students with state-of-the-art technology and sustainable solutions with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and BIM for monitoring, repairing, and large-scale use of 3-D printing technology and IoT.

During the course, students study various subjects such as structural dynamics, tension structure, chimney, silo, transmission line tower and bridge structure, water retaining structure, hydraulics structure, industrial structure with the advanced numerical methods in engineering. Students willing to study this course can take admission in IIT Hyderabad and Nirma University, Ahmedabad.

ELIGIBILITY AND CAREER IN COMPUTER-AIDED STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Aspiring candidates should have a full-time graduation degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grades from any recognised university. The candidate should have a valid BE/B Tech Degree with a good GATE score in civil engineering. Final year students of civil engineering can also apply to take admission in computer-aided structural engineering.

There are too many career opportunities available for a qualifying candidate. Students can apply and get jobs in aerospace, electronics, communication, automotive, manufacturing, and processing industries. Companies usually require computer engineers with suitable hardware & software designing skills for automotive test equipment, computer networking, computer-aided designed system, robotics, biomedical instruments, computer vision system, etc. A qualified engineer can apply for the post of technical officer, automation QA engineer, business development manager, technical content developer, senior instructor, and so on in private and government sectors such as railways, airports, highways, and academic institutions.
