The course is designed to equip students to perform in the fields of design, R&D section, manufacturing, operations and other related services. Industrial engineering also includes how to effectively reduce waste and improve the performance of a system. They are required to get the end product with zero errors and analyze the product requirement so carefully to give the best end results. 

How to Join

One who wants to join Industrial Engineering should pass the qualifying examination with an aggregate score of 60-75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. After completing the same, the student has to appear for the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE - Main) to get admission into one of the top college or universities in India.

Most of the engineering colleges in India offer admission to students based on the JEE Main examination. It is a national level entrance examination done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the national level apex authority responsible for the regulation and control of all engineering colleges and courses available in India. AICTE is the statutory authority responsible for proper planning and coordination on the development of the technical education system in India.

Career Prospects of Industrial Engineers

Industrial engineers are hired to improve the quality of products and services, increase efficiency, reduce production costs, ensure safety to the workers and the environment. Industrial engineers are required to apply their knowledge and academic experiences into various situations from manufacturing to business administration. Job opportunities for industrial engineers have been increasing exponentially from year-to-year. It is a broad field that you have many fields to specialize and find a rewarding job. 

As an industrial engineer, government sectors like Armed Forces, Railways, etc. hire them for different positions. One can also join other private firms in their R&D departments, manufacturing units, designing and fabrication units etc. Fields like aeronautics, automobile, private consultancy firms are some other fields which makes use of Industrial engineers to boost their business.
