OPTOELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION

  • 3 Colleges

Optoelectronics and communication technology combine science and electronics. The curriculum equips you with the knowledge and skills you'll need to succeed in the fast-paced world of fibre optic communications production, installation, research and development, repair, and technical sales.

About Optoelectronics & Communication

Optoelectronics has been dubbed the revolutionary technology of the twenty-first century, potentially having the same impact as electronics did in the twentieth. This interdisciplinary M.Tech programme intends to teach experts in optoelectronics and communications, focusing on networking technologies. The first half of the courses are required, while the second half are electives that allow students to pursue areas of academic interest. The core courses provide a strong science and engineering foundation, and these are reinforced by laboratory courses, allowing students to start working on projects in the second year. Graduates with a background in optoelectronics and related communication technologies will find employment in industries and R&D groups working in optoelectronics, telecommunications, and networks.

What is Optoelectronics & Communication?

In applying light to produce speech and data communications, optoelectronics and communication technology combine science and electronics. The curriculum equips you with the knowledge and skills you'll need to succeed in the fast-paced world of fibre optic communications production, installation, research and development, repair, and technical sales. The study, design, and fabrication of hardware devices that transform electrical signals into photon signals and vice versa is referred to as optoelectronics. Students are taught about the Photonic waveguide components and applications - couplers, multimode interference-based couplers, tapers, bends, y- branch, gratings, switches, polarizers, filters, resonators, multiplexer/demultiplexer, optical Integrated optical systems and applications, optical interconnects. They are also introduced to topics such as Numerical techniques and simulation tools for analyzing PICs; Analysis of Plasmonic waveguides, Photonic crystal waveguides.

Eligibility and Career in Optoelectronics & Communication

To be considered for the course Optoelectronics & Communication, the candidate must have passed or be scheduled to take the M.Sc. final exams. B.E., or Bachelor of Engineering, is a degree in physics. / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) with a foundation in electromagnetism and optics They should have a cumulative grade point average of 60 percent or higher (including English) or a CGPA of 6 or higher (10-point scale). They require 55 percent or more (English) and 60 percent or more (math) in class 12. (Aggregate including English). Candidates having a B.E. bachelor's degree will be considered, or B.Tech Applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (with a background in Optics and Electromagnetic Theory) or a Master's Degree in Physics. Optoelectronics is a significant industry in India. However, because there are few Indian companies active in research and manufacturing in this field, most jobs are available abroad. This industry has a lot of potential for future growth and now is the best moment to become involved. By the time a student completes their study, the Indian job market will be swamped with chances in this field. The military and aerospace industries have significantly benefited from optoelectronics. Due to restricted areas, tunnels, and seagoing boats, transmitted Over-Air RF links may not reach the target receivers; optical repeaters and fibre optic networks are used to address this. Hence grads will have a wide range of possibilities from which to pick.
