About Manufacturing Technology & Automation

Engineering in manufacturing technology and automation is a sub-branch of engineering. It involves creating the application of technology to control the production and delivery of goods and services. It mainly focuses on the show, design, use of mechanics etc. In this program, students are taught the basics of materials, energy and mechanics.  They are crucial in the production industry as they can reduce the price of a product by reducing the workforce required by adding robots wherever needed, making the development more sustainable, efficient, and making the products better than the previous models. They can be hired in manufacturing, automobile industry, production industry, research and development etc., as specialists.

What is Manufacturing Technology & Automation?

This program mainly focuses on the machines, like their production, design, improvising etc. There are also many different types of courses in this program. Mathematics, chemistry, physics, subdivisions, and computer programming are covered in all of these programs. There are courses in the name of B.Tech in manufacturing and automation engineering and B.E in manufacturing and automation engineering. These two courses are of 4 years. And there are P.G programs in the name of M.Tech in the manufacturing process and automation engineering and M.E in the manufacturing process and automation engineering and are of two years duration. All of these courses exams are semester wise. As the job requires young, innovative, efficient and practical ideas, it is always necessary to stay updated. As their educational qualification is high, their demand is also high, so pursuing masters is always advisable. But the major factor must be one's creative mind.

Eligibility and Career in Manufacturing Technology & Automation

To apply for admission, you must check all of the criteria said below. Candidates should pass +2 or equivalent courses with an aggregate 50% mark. As all engineering courses, these too are of 4 year-long courses. And the subjects must include chemistry, physics, mathematics and an elective. To get admission to significant institutes such as IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) and NIT (National Institute of Technology), students must pass JEE Main or JEE Advanced or other entrance exams such as BITSAT for other institutions. As the world develops with industry, the need for automation engineers is also highly demanded. They work in both production-oriented industries and service-oriented industries, and both of them are highly required. The private industries do not only require them, but they are also required in the government sector as project manager, professor, lecture, lab manager, manufacturing test engineer, production test engineer, engineering services manager, systems software manager etc. The top recruiters in the private sector are HCL, Reliance, Infosys, BSNL, WIPRO, NHPC, NTPC, L&T Infotech etc. The salary of an automation engineer depends on their skill set, location, experience, capabilities, job etc. Still, the average compensation varies from 6 lakh of annual income to 15 lakh of annual income.
