Mechatronics Engineering is a relatively new field of engineering that has been introduced recently in India. It is an integrated course combining mechanical and electronic engineering domains. It is basically the study of moving parts of robots, electronics and machines.
Since many of the industries that gained huge growth have done it with the help of automation. Mechatronics Engineering has a lot to deal with the automation of the industries as a huge number of skilled engineers are needed to deal with the whole process and management of it.

Mechatronics Engineering

The course is designed to make students manage the electrical and mechanical devices as well as machines involved in various technical processes in a manufacturing unit or factory. The program gives training to acquire skills in design, construct and run a production line and automated processes, which are computer-controlled using programming, industrial sensors, hydraulic, pneumatic and electric drives.

Mechatronics Engineering gives advanced insights to mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer science, instrumentation and control system engineering fields. Sastra University, NMIMS, Mumbai, MIT, Manipal and Chandigarh University are some of the top reputed engineering institutions in India offering Mechatronics Engineering course.

How to Join

One who wants to join Data Science Engineering should pass the qualifying examination with an aggregate score of 60-75% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. After completing the same, the student has to appear for the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE - Main) to get admission into one of the top colleges or universities in India.

Most of the engineering colleges in India offer admission to students based on the JEE Main examination. It is a national level entrance examination done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the national level apex authority responsible for the regulation and control of all engineering colleges and courses available in India. AICTE is the statutory authority responsible for proper planning and coordination on the development of the technical education system in India.

Career Prospects of Mechatronics Engineers

Industries like automobiles, automation, research, aerospace, defence, software solutions, product development etc. are the main recruiters of well qualified Mechatronics Engineers in India and abroad. They mostly hire these graduates for assistance in designing, research and development, sales, safety and production management purposes. As the applications of Mechatronics Engineering is useful in almost every area, vast job opportunities are available. And since automation is on the uprise, it also increases the career opportunities for Mechatronics graduates.
