Interested eligible candidates in Aqua Cultural Engineering are offered admission to the course in India mostly on the basis of a relevant entrance test, such as the national-level online GATE. Often subsequently, two additional rounds of Group Discussion and Personal Interview are held as part of the counselling procedure, wherein the candidate’s general aptitude for the course is examined. A merit list is then released by the respective institute, allotting available seats to qualifying candidates. Career Prospects

Aquacultural Engineers are responsible for solving technical problems in the area of fish and shellfish maintenance, maintaining and overseeing the correct functioning of the equipment, design of facilities, and mechanisms of control. Engineers apply scientific and technical knowledge to practical applications. Among the many job roles of such postgraduates, are the design and installation of sea cages, maintenance of pumps and water conduction equipment, etc.
They perform the physical field tasks of observing current practices, running trials, and recording data at active aquaculture operations. There may be travelling involved with the locations of research spread across the globe and diverse audiences. Also involved, is a fair amount of office work, from designing projects to preparing cost estimates.
