The course typically covers Physics, Hydrodynamics, Chemistry and Ship Design.
A degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering prepares professionals for 2 different but related careers in the realm of designing ships and the systems that allow ships to run, preparing graduates for employment in the Navy, in the private sector, or in positions involving supervision of other workers or positions involving computer-designed software.
Marine Engineers and Naval Architects wishing to become professional engineers must pass 2 exams conducted by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), and gain sufficient work experience. Students nearing graduation may take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. After passing the FE, individuals must work for 4 years before they are eligible to sit for the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam. The NCEES indicates that the PE is typically the last step to becoming professionally- licensed engineers in the field.

After completing the same, the student has to appear for the Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE - Main) to get admission into one of the top colleges or universities in India.
