The Institute was set up in August 1963, with three disciplines namely Civil, Mechanical and Electrical with 40 seats in each disciplines. Prior to this period this Institution was known as 'Escola de Industrial e Commercial' under the Portuguese rule and certificate courses were conducted in different vocations. After the Liberation of Goa the Institute of 'Escola de Industrial e Commercial' was upgraded to the Polytechnic status. It was shifted to the spacious campus at the picturesque Altinh
