About Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing & Automation Technology)

This diploma program offers students a broad commitment to the Mechanical Engineering Technology field. It prepares students for a career in today's automated production institution. The focus is on the modern industrial production environment, which takes the knowledge of production processes and design, computer-controlled production and industrial robotics.  Mechanical and automation engineers mainly focus on the design and manufacture of machines. Engineers design and assemble engines and power plants, structures, and vehicles of various sizes, and handle machinery, control, and information technology. The future of mechanical engineering and automation undoubtedly provides a wide range of opportunities for young professionals.

What is Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing & Automation Technology)?

Students learn the role of computer integration in the context of production and design functions. This program can lead to exciting careers in different areas, including, but not limited to, additive production, production and robot systems, 3D CAD, numerical control units, Industry 4.0 and industrial technology. Due to individual and group projects, students can apply for and refine their problems and communication skills while resolving Real World’s automated futuristic production problems.  The program also emphasizes the combination of standard production processes with automated production and industrial automation devices in a production environment. Today's effective technologist is also an experienced communicator, and students learn to communicate technical information at all levels through linguistic, graphical and automated methods.

Mechanical engineering is one of the most popular career options among students in India. There are many career opportunities in this field for aspiring young people. Graduates of this industry are mainly employed in manufacturing companies. Mechanical engineers can find employment in private or public sectors of various types. They can also find work in government agencies such as CPWD, defence, PWD, post office and telegraph.

Candidates with a postgraduate degree or additional management degree can find work in management and executive positions. In the agriculture department, mechanical engineers play a key role in setting up service centres to maintain pump assemblies, tractors, electric motors, diesel engines, and other agricultural equipment. Candidates interested in research can work with a variety of public/private sector research institutions. Professionals in this career may also opt for teaching jobs at universities and colleges. Experienced graduate students can also seek employment abroad.
