About Mechanical Engg (Industry Integrated)

Mechanical Engineering is a 4-year course that combines the features of mechanical as well as industrial engineering. This course gives knowledge about manufacturing and designing processes about various types of industrial machinery. This course also teaches about industrial infrastructure, distribution, and various components that help in working industrial machinery. This course has been gaining a large amount of popularity in recent years due to its ability to improve a student's employability prospects. The opportunities provided by this course are very diverse, and the job prospects for this field are also very rewarding. Students who pass out from this field can get employed as engineers and designers and participate in manufacturing machines and products. Once students have gained experience in this field, they can take administrative positions as this course will enhance their authoritative capabilities and govern large projects. The students from this field can also become managers in major corporations and supervise teams.

What is Mechanical Engg (Industry Integrated)?

As said, previously this course combines both mechanical and industrial engineering. That is, it aims to design and develop industrial machinery and infrastructure. Students here study the existing manufacturing processes, analyze their capabilities and develop solutions to solve the shortcomings to enhance the capabilities. This course will learn about the various components and systems that make working industrial machinery possible and the various equipment through which new products can be created. Aside from this tool analysis, the course also teaches the necessity of labour and how it can be distributed to optimize the production process. This course will give students the skills they need to work as an industrial engineer like, Mathematical skills which will be very necessary as professionals in this field need to know about the principles of various mathematical fields like calculus, trigonometry etc. for creating accurate designs, Problem Solving skills which are important when an industrial engineer encounter upon a defect in an engineering design or labour shortages or quality analysis and has to find out ways to correct them, Writing skills which are needed after the products have been made. The engineer needs to create reports or other documents based on their work so that those reviewing the work can understand it clearly, etc. The curriculum for this course is as follows: Engineering Physics, Engineering Chemistry, IT, Engineering Mathematics for the first semester. The next semester will learn Circuit Theory, Analytical & Digital Circuits, Structural Mechanics, Basics of Mechanical Engineering. After this, students will learn the theory of machines, Electronic instrumentation, Machine Design, Applied Thermodynamics. After this, students learn Solid & Fluid Mechanics, Air Conditioning, Environmental Engineering, Manufacturing Technology etc.

Eligibility and Career in Mechanical Engg (Industry Integrated)

Students who decide to participate in this course should have an aggregate of 45% at 10+2 level with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the core. If a student has not taken chemistry but Computer Science, they are still eligible to apply. The job prospects of this field are available as Managers, Engineers, Administration head or executive officers, projects engineers, quality managers in various sectors available.
